My Second Editorial Cover

They say good things come in threes so I’m very keen to see what happens next because not long ago I landed my second editorial cover!

I also wrote the beauty piece featured in the same issue of Citizen Magazine titled, “Why You Should Make Friends With A Brow Artist”.  For those who regularly read my blog (or know me in person) you will know how passionate I am about brows and I had a blast writing this article.  Many thanks to the team at Get Threaded for their help with research.

The editorial was titled, “Tea for Two” and had the fabulous team of Natasha Foster behind the lens, Bianca from London Management GroupLeda Ross on wardrobe styling, Elly Hanson on hair for Label M and myself on make-up.

This is what we created.

New Website Launched!

My new website launched today and I am over the moon. A year of work with Ben my website developer and it’s finally live!

Sonia Allen Make Up new website

The splash page of my new website: soniaallenmakeup.com

Working across fashion, bridal, film and TV, I wanted the new site to reflect the different portfolios of Sonia Allen Make Up.  Hence the split splash page.  The image on the left will take you straight to my fashion/film/television work while the image on the right will take you to all things Sonia Allen Bridal.  We also built a link from the website to the blog.

The new site is mobile friendly and works across any mobile device, tablet or desktop computer.

Image galleries were modernised and optimised for faster viewing. If you click on any image, you get the option to view it enlarged and you can continue to scroll through that way too.  Nifty!

We built in a few new pages to the bridal part of the website. Now you can see the bridal editorials I have worked on, testimonials and images from past brides, press clippings, recommended suppliers as well as which brands I use (for bridal work) and my Beauty Advice page for brides-to-be.

Many many thanks must go to Ben McArthur, my tirelessly dedicated web developer and graphic designer. Thank you for all your hard work, patience and meticulous attention to detail. It’s been over a year of emails, Skype calls and revisions but even from the other side of the world, you have delivered a wonderful end result and I can’t thank you enough. We will celebrate later this year when I make my way back to London.

If like me, you are a fan of Ben’s work you can see some of the stationary and signage he designed for my stall at the One Fine Day wedding fair here.  He also does beautiful custom-designed wedding stationary (so multi-talented).  Personalised emblem design for invitations although I’ve already tied the knot?  Yes please!!

I hope you all enjoyed checking out the new site. A website is always a work-in-progress especially for those of us in the creative industries. I have lots of new fashion editorials, campaigns and bridal shoots that will be going up on the website in the coming weeks so be sure to check back again! You can like my Facebook page or follow me on Instagram or Pinterest to see snippets of my latest work.

Happy browsing!

Set Design 4

From this initial sketch design…

Set Design 3

To this…

We decided on a clean aesthetic for the make up and hair to work with the geometric lines of the set design and clothes sourced.

I got creative with the nail design.  Thank you Emily for not smudging!

I did these badboys freehand!

And my make-up brief was creamy skin, strong highlight & strong brow.

Until we got to later on when blue eyeliner was applied to the lower lashline and a metallic tint added to the lips.  I increased the shading on the eyes too to balance out the graphic liner.
